A safari to Samburu Game Reserve in the northern frontier via the shoulders of Mountain Kenya, famous for the beautiful landscape, wildlife and the Samburu people; followed by a visit to the famous bird sanctuaries, Lake Baringo, Bogoria and Nakuru, then south over the Mau Escarpment to Kenya’s greatest concentration of wildlife all year round - the Masai Mara and home to the spectacular great wildebeest migration and the ‘7th wonder of the world’

Day 1:- Nairobi/Samburu

Pick up from your hotel in the morning and travel to Kenya’s northern frontier to the wild and rugged, Samburu, fiercely beautiful with its arid savannahs watered by the lovely Uaso Nyiro River. Arrive by lunch time. Later embark on a late afternoon game. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 2:-Samburu

Full day spent exploring the park. The highlights of Samburu game reserve is the spectacular scenic beauty, rivers and forests. It is an area where the local people have a rich and colorful heritage. The reserve have numerous permanent springs and a wealth of wildlife especially the cats (leopard, cheetah, lion); Beisa Oryx, Somali Ostrich, Elephant, Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy’s Zebra, gerenuk, buffalo, grant’s gazelle, waterbuck, baboon, impala, dik-dik, antelope and Crocodile in the Ewaso Nyiro River. Over 365 species of birds have been identified in the sanctuary among them Somali ostrich, go-away birds, secretary bird, lilac-breasted rollers, weavers, sunbirds, hornhills, spurfowl, gineafowl, vultures. Meals and overnight the Lodge.

Day 3:- Samburu/ Lake Nakuru

After an early breakfast, depart for Lake Nakuru, to arrive in time for lunch at your lodge, inside the Lake Nakuru National Park. In the afternoon you will embark on an afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Lake Nakuru is a soda lake on the floor of the rift valley home to over 400 species of birds among them Marabou storks, hammerkops, fish eagles, pelicans, flamingos (Greater & Lesser). The Lake has also earned a reputation as an important haven for endangered species- particularly the Rothschild Giraffe and the black and white rhino. Some of the other game resident here are Lions, Leopard, hippos, waterbuck, buffalo, Common zebra, spotted hyenas, warthogs, Jackals, Rock hyrax, bat-eared fox, Olive baboons, velvet monkeys and mongoose among others. Other highlights at Lake Nakuru National park are the spectacular view points: Baboon cliff, Lion hill and Out of Africa; the beautiful hill: Enasoit, Lion hill ridge and Honeymoon not forgetting the Makalia waterfalls at the southern end of the park. The park is also famous for its unique vegetation including the largest euphorbia forest in Africa and the yellow acacia woodlands.

Day 4:- Lake Nakuru/Maasai Mara

Soon after breakfast, proceed south via the scenic Great Rift Valley to Maasai Mara to arrive in good time for Lunch. Late afternoon game drives followed by dinner and overnight the Lodge.

Day 5 /6:- Maasai Mara

Full day spent exploring the park in search of the Big 5 among other game. Meals and overnight at the Lodge.

The Maasai Mara Game Reserve is arguably Kenya’s most popular game sanctuary. It is the most famous and most visited game reserve in Kenya. The easily spotted game are virtually Thompson’s and Grant’s gazelle, eland, impala, antelopes, masai giraffe, elephants, buffalo, warthog, the big cats, leopard, cheetah, lion. A spectacle worth seeing is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from Serengeti plains across the Tanzania border and the Mara River to reach Maasai Mara grazing fields from late June. The dramatic crossing of the river and the preying on the migrants by predators can be viewed from early July to August. Other animals easy to see are bat-eared foxes, jackals, spotted hyenas. Mara and Talek rivers are home to hippos and crocodiles. The reserve is rich with birdlife with about 452 species recorded among them vultures, eagles, common ostrich, go-away birds, secretary bird, cranes, storks, hamerkop, hornbills. Hot air balloon safaris are readily available in this park at an extra cost of US$450. At extra cost you may visit a local Masai village to see their nomadic lifestyle; the Masai are famous for their bravery, as they have co-existed with the animals over the years.

Day 7: Maasai Mara/Nairobi

Morning game drive to further explore the Maasai Mara reserve, then you drive to Nairobi via Narok; we stop to browse in the bustling, vibrant Masai markets to buy curios and handicrafts before continuing to Nairobi where our safari ends.
