A combination of gym workouts, swimming, Morning run and massage treatments at the spa at the tail end of this program You will be amazed with the results that you can achieve because the program is designed to transform your body by helping you become fitter, stronger, and more physically able, as well as providing a renewed motivation with which to attack your newly transformed regime.
Day 1:- Arrival/Nairobi - Karura forest
Upon arrival in Nairobi you will be met by Designer Tours team and be transferred to Silversprings hotel.
After check-in, you drive to Karura forest for a run/walk or you can choose to do cycling. Just a few kilometers from the heart of the city lies Karura Forest Reserve, it is one of the largest urban gazetted forests in the world. Among the attractions that visitors will be able to enjoy are Mau Mau caves (these are the caves that were used by the Mau Mau freedom fighters), scenic waterfalls, picnic sites, bamboo forest and nature trails. On this day we shall have a yoga/Pilates session conducted by one of experts in the serene environment of the Karura forest. After this we have a picnic breakfast at the park followed by tree planting session.Drop off at the hotel for overnight.
Day 2:- Nairobi/Longonot
After breakfast, you drive to Mt. Longonot via the Great Rift Valley with a brief stopover at the view point. At the park gate you meet your guide and hike to the top of the Great Rift Valley. Here, you will get the chance to experience the freedom and awesome wilderness of East Africa, Mt Longonot is just less than 2780m you will start the ascent at 2150m and like all good uphill hikes; it will lull you into a false sense of security with a slow gentle rise to the first hill. Mt. Longonot is one of the volcanic mountains of the Great Rift Valley of geological importance. On the walk through the National Park, you may see herds of Zebras, Kongoni, Giraffe and warthogs and a variety of bird life. You can wind up the day with an afternoon boat ride at the lake to view the Hippos and the birds before you proceed to Naivasha Sopa Resort for Dinner and overnight.
Day 3:- Longonot/Iten
We drive at leisure via Kerio valley through Kabarnet, on to Iten across the hot and fascinating Kerio Valley. The excitement of this route builds only after you leave Kabarnet town and plunge into the valley, a drop of 1000m in not much more than the same distance. There are magnificent views as the road rolls through the valley, crossing the Kerio River here we make a short stop over to enjoy diving skills from a local diving group, after which the road turns sharply up the escarpment on the western side of the Kerio Valley where the road leads as straight to Iten town. We settle at Kerio view hotel which has a fantastic view of the escarpment overlooking the Great Rift Valley after dinner we have some briefing program for the three days we will be in the area. At the Kerio view hotel is the base for anyone who would be interested in Para gliding. Here you will find para gliding enthusiastic fans from all over the world enjoying these breath taking kerio valley view’s just next to the high altitude training center at Iten where marathon runners train.
Day 4:- Iten
We check into the High Altitude Training Camp, a running resort set in the rural, hilly fields of Iten. Four-time world champion Lornah Kaptagat founded the camp, originally to give young Kenyan girls a place to train and maintain their academic studies. Now runners and marathoners from all over the world stay here to train for different runs and marathon. You will find Kenyan record holder marathon and long distance runners like Kemboi, Rudisha, Lagat and Mofhar, and Racheal Radcliffe of Great Britain. We have a morning easy run with the local runners amongst them record holders in various marathons around the world, most serious runners stay in Iten for at least two to three weeks – one week to acclimatize, the rest of the time to build up mileage and oxygen-carrying red blood cells.
Day 5:- Iten
Early morning long run guided by the profession runners, the run is tough, but you will feel strong because by then you will be almost fully have acclimatized to the area. After the run we shall organize a visit to a children’s home where you can get to be philanthropic but this is an optional.
Day 6:- Iten
Another day running, spend the day with your coach who can cater for all levels of fitness and experience. By now you have learnt so much from these record holders in both marathons, and long distance runners. There are lots of possibilities for training at the HATC and miles of dirt roads are surrounding the Centre.
Day 7:- Iten/ Maasai Mara
After breakfast, you depart for Maasai Mara via Nandi hills, The Nandi Hills are a highland area of lush green rolling hills at the edge of the Great Rift Valley. The scenic area is known for its tea estates and unrivalled black tea quality. Its high altitude plays a major role in athletics in Kenya and every morning international athletes are seen running up and down the hills. It is also the original home of Kipchoge Keino the first Kenyan Olympic gold medalist, Pamela Jelimo, and Janet Jepkosgei among others. Nandi is the cradle of Kenya’s running, and in many ways the whole world’s running. While in Nandi Hills, you will have a chance to visit the manufacturing side of the tea process at the Nandi Hills Tea Factory. Guided tours are offered to guests, around the factory explaining the happenings at each stage of the tea manufacturing process; you will get to know the nine different varieties of tea and the differences between each. You may also be offered a chance to participate in the tea tasting process. Afterwards, you will proceed to Maasai Mara arriving in the evening for dinner and overnight at Mara Sopa lodge.
Day 8 and 9:- Explore Maasai Mara
You spend the days exploring the park in search of the Big 5. Meals and overnight at the lodge.
Maasai Mara Game Reserve is arguably Kenya’s most popular and most visited game reserve in Kenya. The film ‘Out of Africa’ was made to a great extent in this reserve. Virtually every type of wildlife can be seen at the Mara including the elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, buffalos and the hunting jackal. A spectacle worth seeing is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle from Serengeti plains across the Tanzania border and the Mara River to reach Maasai Mara grazing lush green fields from late June. The dramatic crossing of the river and the preying on the migrants by predators can be viewed from early July to August. The reserve abounds with 452 species of birdlife making it a bird viewing paradise for bird lovers. Hot air balloon safaris and walking safaris are readily available in this park in the mornings at an extra cost or in one of the afternoons; you also have an opportunity to visit an authentic Maasai village at also at an extra cost.
Day 10:- Maasai Mara/Nairobi
An early morning game drive and after breakfast, you drive to Nairobi as you transverse the game park reserve game viewing to arrive late afternoon.
Drop off Silversprings hotel for overnight.
Day 11:- Nairobi
Attend a spa for a much needed massage and relaxation. This day you will also have a chance to shop for souvenirs.
Day 12:- Departure
Transfer to Airport to catch your flight back home; more fit and full of memories.
